Accomplished in a very slow process using a very hot electric pen in the shape of a small round ball, held to the canvas of wood or paper; it literally burns, changing the cellular structure. The depth of the burn is controlled to create the many shades of a painting. I developed my skills in the TECHNIQURES OF PYROGRAPHY for six years to reach this level of Firepainting you are now witness to. The Organic and Sensory filled process of burning along with the photo realism I try to achieve, has allowed my paintings the visual experience of “coming alive”, which is my greatest motivation
I am a self-learned multi-media artist—first inspired by my mother at the age of 6, when she showed me a small painting she had created by chewing the tip of a wooden toothpick, making a brush. That ingenuity lead me into a constant process of learning and experimenting, motivated by the challenges to finding solutions to problems.
My growth as an artist and a human have a simultaneous connection that is all encompassing to the world around me in its ever evolving process. Cindy Adams/Firepainter
