Steve & Calisse Browne

Picture
Steve and Calisse Browne
Their biggest satisfaction comes from watching others enjoy their art. Creating art that speaks to someone on an emotional level helps that person to remember where they were and who they were with when they first saw the piece. That is what art is all about for the Brownes.

Their inspiration comes from nature and a love of traveling, using the belief that life is an adventure to embrace, as a catalyst to the jewelry line  “Silver Moments”.

Calisse
loves working metals, stones, glass, enamel, and jewels into something unique and beautiful.  It brings her joy to see someone wearing and enjoying a piece of jewelry that she has created.

Steve enjoys working with copper and enamel, making earrings and pendants that are full of color and pleasing symmetry.  Learning and using the techniques available to enabling art very much is part of the fun in working in the studio to create his pieces of art.

Original, One-of-a-kind, Flame-painted Copper Art.

Steve and Calisse Browne started their “flame painting” by creating flame painted copper jewelry. Their interest in creating larger wall art pieces caused them to experiment with various torches and techniques to transfer the process used on jewelry to larger copper wall pieces. Fire painting larger wall art pieces requires multiple steps. While some steps can be prepared in advance of the piece’s fire painting, the majority of them must be completed in succession, requiring patience and perseverance to create the vibrant, one-of-a-kind piece of art. The couple works together, collaborating on each of the art pieces.

Steve grew up in South Africa and moved to the United States when he was 16.  Calisse grew up on a farm in Indiana with a ginormous family.  The couple lived in Colorado for over twenty years and recently moved to Oregon. They have four children and two grandchildren.
