Wherever ALXSw is, art is home. When she’s working, she loves to clear her mind and let her creativity flow. She creates art along a continuum between expressionism and minimalism through color, story, and the use of negative space.
When painting, ALXSw’s focus is color and emotion, often working three to five canvases at a time. She combines traditional oil paints and Zen calligraphy using shodo ink made from charcoal. When she’s working, she flows with the movement of the wet oils, circles, and more.
With her photography, ALXSw seeks to capture a decisive moment, perhaps something serendipitous or unusual. With both painting and photography, she expresses energy rather than linearity, in memorializing that distinctive moment.
ALXSw artwork has received awards from the Biennale Contemporania del Arte, Florence, IT (painting, 2009); Carmel Art and Film (photography, 2009); and Kelllicutt Int’l Photography Exhibit (2013).
