Jodi loves exploring coastal themes in her paintings, including lighthouses, whales, mermaids, turtles, buoys, eagles, puffins, and more. She describes her creative process as a slow burn: she lets the details of a scene percolate long before she memorializes it in a painting.
A detail of special interest to Jodi is texture. For example, in painting a pelican or other coastal bird, she wants to convey a multitude of textures, from the softness of the feathers to the roughness of the weather-beaten pier on which it sits.
Jodi majored in Art Studies at UCLA and also studied at California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC). She is a Tommy Madden Certified Watercolor Instructor. She teaches classes in additional mediums at various local venues.
