Sam originally hails from the Southern California high desert. After attending college in Arizona, he took a job as a middle school teacher in Utah, where he taught science for twenty years. During that time he built and maintained a darkroom behind the librarian’s office where he honed his darkroom skills; but artistically there was room for growth. Later, Sam and his wife started a cage-free dog boarding camp where photography was an essential component of the business’s success. Daily posting photographs on the website of dogs running and playing in a natural outdoor setting tremendously developed his composition skills.
Now retired, Sam scours the beautiful Pacific Northwest for eye-catching nature of all kinds, but he especially focuses on raging seas, interesting wildlife and glorious sunsets.
