Michelle Galli
Fused Glass
Michelle’s love for glass shows in her work. She loves how the translucency of the glass plays with the light, varying the look of a piece depending on the light’s source, its intensity, and its angle. She also loves how the bright colors of the glass breathe life and joy to each piece.
Inspired by the marine environment of the Oregon coast, Michelle uses a variety of techniques to convey the tranquility of the forest, the power of the ocean, and the many delights of the area’s flora and fauna. With multiple firings at varying temperatures, Michelle adds dimension to her pieces through the layering of color and shapes and by manipulating the glass through a variety of processes. Her processes include fusing glass, creating strings of glass through vitrigraph pulling, and incorporating cut pieces of copper between layers of glass. The result are works that are sure to please the eye and the heart in equal measure.
