Stephanie Reitmajer
Painter

After an accomplished career, a love of watercolor from a high school art class led Stephanie to pursue fine art full-time. After discovering her passion, she now lives her life devoted to art, exploring new techniques and striving to continuously improve her artistic skills.

A versatile artist, Stephanie works in pastel, watercolor, and oils to render expressive paintings of nature. Armed with her media of choice, she employs dynamic color and mark-making to convey the excitement she feels for her subject.

As a lover of the outdoors, she enjoys painting En Plein Air and has taught classes in outdoor watercolor sketching through the Artist Studio Association in Lincoln City, Oregon.

Artist’s statement:
I create art to express my deep affection and concern for the environment. Through my painting, I leave an everlasting impression of nature’s boundless yet fragile beauty and urge the viewer to appreciate the earth and her creatures as I do. While I work, every color stroke forges a connection between my heart and the infinite fabric of our ecosystem. It is an act of love and brings me pure joy.

I use soft pastel, watercolor, and oils. I consider each one a tool in the kit. I chose the media to achieve my artistic goals and often mix them within a painting. My work is distinguished by luminosity, vibrant color, high-value contrast, expressive marks, and delicate blending. I am inspired by the simple blessings in my life, such as a quiet hike through the forest, the sunrise on the ocean, a resting butterfly, or exotic birds from recent travels.

My art is an act of communication. It becomes art when my ideas move from my heart, through my hands to the paper or canvas. My images enable me to share the places I visit and cherish. When viewing my work, I want you to find it peaceful, delightful, and most of all compelling. Be compelled to see a new location, experience the majesty of a sunset, or seek out the silence of the forest. Let your adventure allow my love of nature to spread from me, through you to others.
